Saturday, November 13th was the first of what we hope to be an annual trail ride to benefit the Abandoned Animal Fund. The weather couldn't have been prettier, with partly cloudy skies and temperatures around 70°. The participating riders enjoyed a beautiful trail that skirted the edges of open fields and wound through mature hardwood forest where the carpet of golden fallen leaves and slowly drifting falling ones made for an almost magical autumn experience.

The Ardmore firefighters cooked hamburgers and hotdogs with all the fixin's and we topped it off with fun door prizes and a silent auction. All-in-all, a fun and successful event that we hope you'll put on your calendar for next year.

We would like to thank the following businesses and organizations for their donations and support:

  • Dollar General Market - Ardmore
  • Wal-Mart - Pulaski
  • Saddle Rack - Elkmont
  • Harvest Feed Mill
  • Dave & Eclick Grocery
  • Highland Baptist Church
  • Union Hill Baptist Church
  • Roy & Rogers - Fayetteville
  • CO-OP - Pulaski
  • Pulaski Veterinary Clinic
  • Sundrop Bottling Co.
  • Coca-Cola Bottling Co.

  • Tractor Supply Company - Pulaski
And the property owner, Lynda Sommers.
Yard Sale
2010
Saturday, November 20th was another beautiful day and we had a great turn-out for our yardsale.
We started setting up at 6 a.m. and by 7 a.m. we had already attracted a few buyers before our scheduled start time of 8 a.m.

Items had been collected from our clients and others in the community for several weeks ensuring there was a great selection of goodies to choose from. For those who already had everything they needed, we were also offering cupcakes, brownies, and bowls of chili.

There was a steady stream of buyers in and out until we closed down about 3 p.m. and we were exhausted but happy that everything went so well. We had some leftover items and delivered those to GoodWill Industries so every item donated to us was beneficial in some way.

A big thank you goes out to all of you who donated or stopped by to shop with us.

Friends of ACAH
Megan, a local 4th grader, loves animals and  hopes to be a veterinarian some day. Until then, the stray and injured animals of Ardmore have benefited from her desire to help them in some way. It is common for children to help with organized fundraisers for trips and other functions at their schools, but not so common for a young person to organize their very own fundraiser:  Megan wanted to help our Abandoned Animal Fund and so took it upon herself to collect money from friends and neighbors, totaling over $40. She and her father Dave also volunteered to help with our benefit yard sale. Her heartfelt efforts to help animals says much about this young lady and we thank her.
Trail Ride
Fall 2010
We held our second benefit trail ride to raise funds for the Ardmore Abandoned Animal Fund on Saturday, April 9th. Despite a very rainy forecast the day before, we were treated to a gloriously sunny spring day with moderate temperatures and a pleasant breeze. We had over 40 riders join us for a fun ride through the newly leafed out forest and around lovely green pastures. There were even some interesting trail obstacles (that had been erected for another event) to challenge those riders interested in testing their horse's trail savvy.

The cooks served up a great lunch of grilled hamburgers and hotdogs with all the fixin's and we had fun awarding the numerous door prizes. There was even a second ride after lunch for those who hadn't had enough in the morning.

We want to thank our sponsors who helped make this event possible (and more fun):

  • Roy & Roger Western Apparel - Fayetteville, TN
  • Tractor Supply Co. - Fayetteville, TN
  • Scivally Grain Company, LLC - Fayetteville, TN
  • MWI Veterinary Supply

With special thanks to our land owner hostess, Linda Sommers for providing such a beautiful venue. Thank you to all of you who came out to support our efforts to help the local abandoned animals. We hope you'll all put our next ride on your calendars, too.

                                                                Thank you
