When this practice was built, as is still the case in many areas, the county did not have an active animal shelter. Commonly, the care of abandoned animals has been shouldered by veterinarians in the area.
While our role is not to be a shelter or rescue organization at ACAH we do from time to time find ourselves caring for ill or injured pets who by all accounts are homeless or abandoned. Whenever possible these pets are medically treated and when recovered are available for adoption. Before releasing them for adoption they are always spayed or neutered and vaccinated appropriate to their age. All diagnostics, treatment and surgery are paid for from our Abandoned Animal Fund. When these pets are adopted the adoption donations are returned to our Abandoned Animal Fund to help the next pet in need.
If you would like to add a cat or a dog to your family please consider adopting a rescued pet from one of the shelters or fosters in our area. Click here to see any pets we currently have available for adoption or drop in for a visit.
