Laboratory
As our pets enter their older age (after 6 or 7 years for large dogs and 9 or 10 years for small dogs and cats), bloodwork can be a very helpful adjunct to the physical exam. The results of this testing can give us insights we might be unable to get from the physical, and even if normal, provide an excellent baseline of information against which to judge any later lab work. Other tests that may be recommended include fecal and urine testing, heartworm testing, chest x-rays and blood pressure monitoring, all of which can be performed in-house at Admore Companion Animal Hospital, with most results available very quickly. Our technicians are well-trained at gently getting the needed samples and running the modern laboratory equipment here at the hospital.
For more specialized and less commonly needed tests, we have daily pickup from several large outside laboratories. Advanced testing like cardiac ultrasound and CT scan is available at specialized referral hospitals within the region and our staff can easily facilitate a referral if it becomes necessary.
Radiology
X-rays are one of the most useful techniques available for diagnosing your pet's problem quickly and efficiently. By providing an inside snapshot of your pet's body and organs, x-rays can aid in the diagnosis of orthopedic problems such as fractures and hip dysplasia, as well as arthritic changes in bones and joints. X-rays are also used to view the heart, lungs and abdomen, allowing for the diagnosis of heart disease, bladder stones, tumors and other health problems. We are equipped with high quality radiographic equipment and our highly trained technicians are adept at achieving diagnostic images.
